In KanColle, the in-game “naval bases” (chinjufu) are named directly after real Imperial Japanese Navy and JMSDF port cities — Mutsu-Ominato, Yokosuka, Maizuru, Kure and Sasebo. Each city’s official 88-list page confirms the tie, and Yokosuka and Maizuru go further with city-run collaboration events and permanent signage. So this page is not a single-city day trip but a naval-heritage pilgrimage circuit: the five ports are scattered across Aomori, Kanagawa, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and most are not doable as a Tokyo day return. If you can pick only one, I would start with Yokosuka — closest to Tokyo and directly on the JR Yokosuka Line — and combine Sarushima with its Meiji-era fortress. Getting there and routing the pilgrimage
This is a cross-region naval circuit, not a Tokyo day return:
Yokosuka (easiest) — the JR Yokosuka Line runs directly from Tokyo/Shinagawa to JR Yokosuka Station in about 60–75 minutes (rely on the JR timetable for exact times), the only leg that works as a Tokyo day trip, with the Sarushima ferry and Verny Park both in the city. Maizuru — reached via the JR Maizuru Line from Kyoto/Osaka to Higashi-Maizuru Station; not a Tokyo day trip. Mutsu-Ominato, Kure and Sasebo — in Aomori, Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively, none a Tokyo day trip, best folded into a longer Tohoku, Setouchi or Kyushu itinerary. In our sourcing, Kure and Sasebo did not yet yield an itemised spot list, so this page publishes on the four verified spots above, with those two ports left for a later update.
